Both charmed and alarmed by televisual media, Eddie Rath channels luxuriant informercials, excessive weather reports, and obsessive sports broadcasts. Rath uses digital video, photography, and interactive electronics to combine, satirize, or mutate the themes he spectates in contemporary American television, Internet, and movie culture.
The worship of professional athletes, sensationalized storytelling, and other televisual icons of America have been the subject of Rath's body of work. An active member of the cult of Americana, Rath often loans his personal engagements to his projects.
Rath works in higher education as a media designer and producer at Harvard Medical School. He earned his MFA from Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2016. and will complete his graduate degree in Digital Media Design from Harvard Extension School in fall of 2020.
